Home Game Tutorial #1: 6+ Hold’em
6+ Hold’em, AKA Short Deck, is a form of Texas Hold’em where the 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s are removed from the deck, leaving 36 cards remaining.
How To Play: The betting structure is typically no limit, just like regular Hold’em. However, pre-flop betting is different there are antes that everyone must put into the pot before they get their cards. The dealer has to put in a blind equal to the ante. The player to their left can call the bind, raise, or fold. and play proceeds to the next player. Once preflop action is done, the game plays the same as Hold’em with a flop, turn, and river.
Special Rules: Since there are fewer cards in play, the odds of getting each hand change. The only major difference is that a flush is better than a full house, and worse than four of a kind.
